Hungary won its first ever Winter Olympics gold in individual competition! – PHOTOS, VIDEO
We have posted an article about the unclear and strange circumstances following the competition of 1,000 metres short track speed skating at the 2022 Winter Olympic Games in Beijing, where one of the Hungarian skating brothers, Sándor Shaolin Liu’s medal was taken away from him.

Four years ago in Pyeongchang at the 2018 Winter Olympics, the younger Liu brother, Shaoang was disqualified from all three individual competitions, but this time, at the 2022 Winter Olympics, Shaoang reached the finals in all three competitions and have successfully secured a gold medal for Hungary on Sunday, Nemzeti Sport reported.
Shaoang Liu, the younger of the brothers have achieved victory in the 500 metres short track speed skating in Beijing not long after his brother’s medal was taken away.
With this victory, the 23-year-old Shaoang Liu won Hungary its first ever gold medal at a Winter Olympics in individual competition, according to Hvg.
He also won a bronze medal in Men’s 1,000 metres and in the Mixed Team Relay category, as per the statistics of Olympics.com.
Even Hungary’s Prime Minister has congratulated him on the internet with a social media post.
Shaoang Liu following the cancelling of the first start took the first place in the first corner and has managed to hold his leading position through-out the competition, even though the Russian Ivliev was closely following him, says Nemzeti Sport.

After his victory he said that “when I woke up I felt that today I am going to become and Olympic champion and I hope that this success brought such a joy to our homeland, our little country that we will never forget”.
